Sell PCGS & NGC Graded Coins
in Arizona — Numismatic Values Honored

Slabbed coins in PCGS or NGC holders are priced on numismatic value, not just metal content. YML Refinery checks every graded coin against current price guides and recent auction data. A slabbed coin sold at melt price is money left on the table — we make sure that doesn't happen.

What Graded Coins Are Worth

PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) and NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) are the two most respected third-party grading services. When a coin is "slabbed" by either service, it carries a certified grade (1–70 scale) and authentication that the broader market accepts.

Graded coins command premiums over raw coins in the same grade because buyers can trust the assessment. A raw MS-64 Morgan might sell for $150; the same coin in an NGC MS-64 holder might sell for $200–$250 because the grade is certified and the coin is authenticated.

The premium is real — and it disappears if a buyer prices your slabbed coin at melt weight alone.

How We Evaluate Graded Coins

For every PCGS or NGC coin you bring, we:

  1. Look up the current PCGS and NGC price guide values for that exact coin, date, mintmark, and grade
  2. Check recent Heritage Auctions and Stack's Bowers realized prices for the same designation
  3. Verify the holder authenticity (barcode scan where possible, visual authentication always)
  4. Make an offer based on current market value — not melt weight

This process takes 2–5 minutes per coin. For a collection of 10–20 slabbed coins, expect 20–40 minutes total.

Selling Graded Coins in Arizona

Most coin shops and pawn shops in Arizona do not properly evaluate graded coins — they price them by metal content and leave numismatic value on the table. YML Refinery is equipped and prepared to pay full numismatic value on certified coins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. We evaluate every slabbed coin against current PCGS and NGC price guides and recent Heritage/Stack's auction records. For common coins in standard grades, melt value may equal or exceed numismatic value. For key dates, scarce issues, or high-grade specimens, numismatic value can be dramatically higher than melt — and we pay accordingly.

Intact slabs in good condition are preferred — a cracked or tampered slab raises authenticity questions. However, we can still evaluate coins from damaged holders using our own XRF testing and grading assessment. A coin with a genuine PCGS or NGC grade, even in a damaged holder, retains most of its value.

All types: U.S. gold, silver, copper, and nickel coins; key-date type coins; Morgan and Peace dollars; Walking Liberty and Franklin halves; Buffalo and Jefferson nickels; Lincoln cents; early American coins; world gold and silver coins. If PCGS or NGC graded it, we can evaluate and buy it.

Absolutely. Many customers bring a mix — slabbed key dates alongside raw common-date silver and gold coins. We evaluate everything in one visit. No need to separate or pre-sort your collection.
